There is an entire “smear industry” that spends billions to defame and character-assassinate anyone who tells the truth in America

Despite what the liberal-loving media may want you to believe, “fake news” is not a “conservative” phenomenon. The 2016 election saw the term get popularized, but perhaps the best use of the phrase was when President Donald Trump told CNN they were “fake news.” As you might suspect,”fake news” was first a tool of the political left. It, and other slanderous terms, like “anti-science,” are used by the left-wing as a way to silence truth-tellers, whistleblowers and anyone else who may stand in their way.

Esteemed investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson, author of the 2017 book The Smear: How Shady Political Operatives and Fake News Control What You See, What You Think, and How You Vote, has spoken out about how fake news has been the left-wing’s modus operandi for quite some time.

Attkisson has worked as a reporter for CBS News and as a foreign correspondent for CNN, and now hosts her own show called Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson. But in her best-selling book, she explains how “fake news” started out as a propaganda term wielded by the Left — before President Trump turned their own “fake news” against them.

How “fake news” became reality

While doing research for her book, Attkisson found that her search for the origins of “fake news” as a term led her to one place: An organization funded by Google. At that time, Google’s parent company, Alphabet, was led by Eric Schmidt — one of Hillary Clinton’s largest campaign donors and a top strategist for her 2016 presidential bid.

Attkisson was inspired to investigate the phrase “fake news” after catching on to the mainstream media’s direct focus on “fake news” in conservative media and their push to make it a national conversation topic. Soon enough, she says, it became clear that the mainstream media had been given their “marching orders” on propagating the term “fake news.”

During a TEDx talk at the University of Nevada, Attkisson posed a pertinent question: “What if the whole anti-fake news campaign was an effort on somebody’s part to keep us from seeing or believing certain websites and stories by controversializing them or labeling them as fake news?”

Her suspicions about the intent behind this agenda led her to First Draft — a company who announced they’d be pairing up to “tackle malicious hoaxes and fake news reports.” First Draft, as it turns out, was funded by Google — during the first election cycle.

The smear industry rages on

President Trump has managed to turn the term “fake news” against the liberal media — but now, they’ve got a new insult. Attkisson warns that the term “media literacy” is now being used to tell people which news outlets are “trustworthy” and which ones are not. Liberal, mainstream sources are predominantly favored, to no one’s surprise.

“Media literacy advocates are busy trying to get state laws passed to require that their version of media literacy be taught in public schools,” Attkisson noted. She concluded her TED talk, stating, “When interests are working this hard to shape your opinion, their true goal might just be to add another layer between you and the truth.”

Across the globe, journalists who dare to reveal truth are being fined, jailed or otherwise shut down. Even in the U.K., conservative voices are being attacked; journalist Tommy Robinson was thrown in jail after exposing a Muslim-run pedophilia ring — because he defied the chosen narrative.

Attkisson says that “the smear industry” is worth billions of dollars — which focuses on targeting public figures and people who voice dissenting opinions and expose truth. The industry of “fake news” and “media literacy” was built to target anyone the establishment wants to take down — and to push false narratives, as directed by “the powers that be.”

“A smear artist told me that nearly every image that crosses your path on a daily basis whether it’s on the news, on a billboard or on a late night comedy show. All of it was put there for a reason, often by someone who paid a lot of money for it to be there,” Attkisson noted in a recent statement.
